Content writing f or beginners is a useful topic to wis in demand after the rapid growth of the internet. This work includes well-researched and clearly written articles or posts for customers, viewers, and readers. In the present time, content writers are making good money through the internet. Multinational companies also hire content writers to market their brands. So if you have decided to make your career in the content writing field. Then, in my opinion, it is a wise decision. But content writing isn’t a cakewalk. It demands a lot, especially intelligence, understanding, dedication, and passion. But if you are a beginner then you are yet to learn these things.
In this article, I’m going to tell you how to start working as a content writer. You need to keep a few things in your mind before laying your fingers on the keyboard. Let’s start from here.
Research Your Topic Properly for Content Writing
The most important thing about writing is knowledge. The more you know about the topic the more you perform well. Research is an essential part of content writing work no matter what niche you are writing in. Now the question arises here, how to research the topic properly?
It is easy to research but hard to filter. The Internet has a lot of information and you need to select the right details for your work. That’s why for better work, your research must contain-
- An understanding of the topic
- Trustworthy and credited external sources
- Enough information about the topic
- Required tone be it professional, personal or friendly
- Proper structure of the content such as titles and subtitles
- The suitable audience for the content
Use Spelling Checker or Grammarly
Another important part of content writing is language. Your language should be accurate, fluent, and free from spelling and grammatical errors. A daunted content irritates readers to no end. But still, if you make a lot of mistakes in your draft then you can prefer spellcheck or Grammarly. It is free software that will check your grammar and spelling mistakes. Before submitting make sure you don’t leave any mistakes in your draft. Because a rough piece of content will tarnish your reputation in the market. So edit it properly.
Use The Required Keywords for Content Search
Putting relevant and required keywords attract more viewers. It is an SEO trick and through the right keywords, you can achieve traffic that is high in numbers. You can also go for keyword research. There are many tools available on the internet. They will surely help you with this task.
Add images, charts, videos, and graphics
Graphics and videos express more than words. Adding visuals to the work will engage viewers. As people often click more on images and videos than written content. So you can add attractive images or graphics related to your topic. You can put charts, graphs, or facts if you are writing on related topics. These visuals will highlight important parts of the content.
Subheadings for Proper Content Creation
Readability is a part of WordPress and Blogger content. You need to divide your article into subheadings for better readability. The main aim of this separation is to stop readers from leaving the page. Because a piece of work without subheadings is boring to read. The Internet has a lot of information and users don’t stick to content for a longer period. That’s why experienced content writers divide their work into multiple parts so users can get what they are looking for without reading the whole article. Through this, they get more clicks, traffic, and views.
Avoid Using Passive Voice
The use of passive and active voice is a debatable topic in content writing. But most of experienced writers suggest writing in an active voice. Because it delivers the purpose correctly in the right words. Where else passive voice sentences manipulate the facts through words. So you should avoid the use of passive voice in your work. However, around 10% of passive voice is acceptable.
Edit Your Work Before Submitting
Editing is also a part of content writing work. After completing your work read it properly at least twice. Edit the paragraphs that you don’t find correct. Editing will help you in maintaining flow, voice, and quality.
Write In A Particular Pattern
All the writers choose a particular pattern to deliver their views on the given topic. For example, if you are writing from the first-person point of view then keep writing in it. Don’t change your voice in the middle of the article. The same rule goes for the second and third-person writing patterns. Also, choose a particular tense and write in it from beginning to end. Don’t switch between past or present again and again as it will corrupt the quality. Maintain flow and always write in the same voice and pattern till the end.
Your article should be short, crisp, well-researched, easy to read, and easy to understand. It must offer demanded information. Then your reader will come back to you time and again.
